What could cause my high LDL?

I have always had excellent blood pressure 120/70. I recently had blood work done and my good cholesterol HDL was fine. My total cholesterol was a boarderline at ~202. But my LDL was terrible – double what the number suggested it should be under!!

What could cause this besides just genetics… or is it just genetics?

We avoid trans-fats like the plague. We rarely eat red meat, we eat a lot of fish & fruits & veggies, we use ground turkey instead of ground beef, often eat oatmeal or a nutrition bar for breakfast. I do not get much time for working out but could this really turn things around that drastically if we eat well?

Can taking suppliments like vitamin E or omega 3 fatty acids cause this? It seems far-fetched but they are oils …

LDLs are present in a variety of foods, could be from cooking oil used to prepared foods. Its really difficult to accurately tell you whats causing the elevated LDL, Try cooking foods in other methods such as Steaming so that you may determine the cause.
